I am awaiting report from British Consul-General at

Yunnanfu. Information received is that production of

spelter has not been large until recently as it did not

pay.

Now owing to rise in price to $32 per picul product-

ion has been stimulated and it principally goes to Japan

for manufacturer of galvanised iron sheets and brass plates

for purposes of ammunition.
